If the part is an internal bracket, a non-visible support piece, or a low-risk component that won't be judged by customers, Mitsubishi Chemical is a reliable option. The cost gap can be meaningful over large volumes, and their technical team is competent. I've also had positive experiences with other major polymer producers for specific grades. My recommendation is not an absolute endorsement.
That said, for customer-facing products and safety-sensitive applications, I've stopped trying to save money by gambling on material consistency. The premium for Covestro is usually worth it—at least, that's been my experience after managing corrective-action reports, return rates, and the occasional angry email from a client whose equipment failed in the field. The best procurement decision isn't always the one with the lowest unit price. Sometimes it's the one that protects the brand without drawing attention to itself.
